Unified Online + In-Store Retail: Ready Set Baby’s Shopify POS Transformation After Migrating From Lightspeed

Case Study: Ready Set Baby —  Migration From Lightspeed to Shopify

Challenge

Ready, Set, Baby is a specialty boutique in Saskatoon focused on supporting new and expecting parents with trusted products, expert guidance, and a community-first shopping experience. Led by Deb — a longtime paramedic, certified car seat technician, and proud grandmother — the business prides itself on safety education, environmental awareness, and low-pressure in-store service.

Despite strong foot traffic and a loyal local clientele, the boutique struggled with its Lightspeed setup. Over the years, online sales suffered due to a subpar customer experience, technical limitations, unreliable connectors, and high cart abandonment. Making even simple website updates often required paid development support.

When the team attempted to migrate to Shopify themselves using third-party tools like Matrixify, they quickly ran into problems:

  • Lightspeed R-Series and C-Series function on separate stacks
  • Duplicate records and data conflicts emerged
  • Product barcodes were at risk
  • Customer loyalty points couldn’t be preserved reliably
  • The process stalled for over a year

It became clear they needed expert intervention.

Solution

We took over the migration end-to-end with our white-glove service.

To overcome the R-Series / C-Series barrier, we used our proprietary in-house migration scripts — purpose-built specifically for problematic Lightspeed data structures. This allowed us to:

  • Cleanly migrate product data, variants, inventory, and barcodes without duplication
  • Transfer customer profiles and historical order records seamlessly
  • Preserve loyalty point balances and attach them to the correct customer accounts
  • Normalize data into a unified, clean Shopify database
  • Eliminate the need for manual re-tagging or barcode recreation

We re-deployed the Ready Set Baby ecommerce from scratch and onto a modern Shopify storefront — fully integrated with the Shopify POS Pro environment.

Outcome

One year after migrating to Shopify, Ready, Set, Baby achieved measurable improvements:

40% increase in sales thanks to a smooth checkout, Shop Pay acceleration, and better user experience overall
Over 10% increase in order volume driven by unified online + in-store operations
100%+ increase in conversion rate due to improved page load speed, product visibility, and mobile-first design
No more paid developer support — store updates can be done in minutes
Better omni-channel performance — curb-side pickup, local delivery, and loyalty are now frictionless
All barcodes preserved — saving weeks of manual rework

Shopify apps also made it effortless to publish products to Google, Pinterest, and other marketing channels — improving SEO overnight and tapping into platforms that are highly relevant to this boutique’s audience.

Takeaways

After years of feeling stuck on Lightspeed, Ready, Set, Baby now enjoys:

  • A unified commerce system that works the same online and in-store
  • Faster workflows and simpler daily operations
  • More predictable costs with access to powerful built-in apps
  • A checkout experience customers actually enjoy using
  • Tools to scale their community further than ever

The move to Shopify unlocked growth, reduced operational friction, and allowed Deb and her team to focus on what matters: supporting parents — not troubleshooting tech.

With a future-proof platform and seamless POS connectivity, Ready, Set, Baby is now positioned for continued long-term success.
